The Hill Disc Golf Tournament 2008

2008 New Zealand Disc Golf Tour Event No.5 - The Hill

5-6 April 2008
Taumarunui, New Zealand

Thanks again to the Lost Tribe Disc Golf Club of Taumarunui for another fantastic weekend of not just Disc Golf but hospitality and friendship as well.

Even the weather came to the party, in fact we can’t remember the course being in such good condition before: minimal long grass and weeds and no boggy bits that the GM inevitably steps into. The central North Island drought may not have been too good for the farmers but it certainly made for better golf conditions.

The pictures tell the story - they have to, we don't have one!

Disc Golf New Zealand
Gene, Dave, Des and Speedo Keene happy their first round is all over as they head for the car and the legendary BBQ lunch at LTD central.

Disc Golf New Zealand
Auckland Freakystyliest Baz Keene who has had his competitive edge rekindled this year with some rewarding rounds.

Disc Golf New Zealand
Waiheke Islander Brett Hailstone came across a spot of trouble. Totara trees really don’t like disc golfers.

Disc Golf New Zealand
Michelle let partner Dave Routley out to play on the Saturday and he showed he hasn’t lost any skills, he can still twist up a rollie with one hand. Thanks Michelle for letting him out to play! [just joking!]

Disc Golf New Zealand
Where's the fag? Minus his trademark rollie, Des Cooper from National Park .. cool as a cucumber slots his putt into the chains.

Disc Golf New Zealand
Fly like an Eagle .. or to be honest a Wraith actually .. The Grand Master sends one over the valley on hole 17. He couldn't find his Eagle until later (was lost in that chest hair).

Disc Golf New Zealand
Dave Routley wearing the LTD Uniform with a full power effort on the 17th.

Disc Golf New Zealand
Tokoroa’s Jenny Joint, happy the round is over. Jenny and daughters Ally and Robyn are now regular features of the NZDG Tour and all in with a chance at the top 4 Match Play spots for Woman.

Disc Golf New Zealand
Taumarunui’s Pete Boyle gets down the scores ahead of moving to the next hole.

Disc Golf New Zealand
The foursome on hole #1 wait for the top dressing plane to taxi before teeing .. a smart move (makes for a great tail wind if you time it right - ed)!

Disc Golf New Zealand
It’s always good to see a wearable art collection of NZDG history on display at the tour events. Pete Boyle sports a Taupo 25 year tee shirt.

Disc Golf New Zealand
Not to be out-done Local Blair Joines has an 8 year old 2000 One Tree Hill tee shirt .
